Day  1

After a long day of 110+ heat and driving till 1:30 am, I have come to this:  We desperately need a RADIO.  No music has made the Klime boys wanna cry.   Without fail some things went wrong.  Our stop at Solid Rock in Tolleson, AZ was to say the least uninviting. We had made arrangements prior to the stop and when we got there no one knew we were coming, our promotional material was left in a bin unopened and not even looked at.  This does not say much for the passion of the climbing world we have come to love so dearly. I’m not saying this to be mean but my view is that a gym is an ambassador for the next generation of climber and as such they have a responsibility to make EVERYONE who walks in their door feel wanted and introduce them to it in a nurturing and non-judgmental manner. I for one was disappointed in the lack of hospitality that one staff member showed and the manager that never looked us in the eye.  SO we left and called up Katie with Vitamin Energy water and The Phoenix Rock Gym and went to party at our stomping grounds.  However, we had to make it past the parking lot that is US I-10 and the fuel pump fiasco that almost had the tour come to an abrupt stop (literally).  But have no fear, we made it and had a grand ol’ time chatting it up with our close friends.  After closing we gave some peeps a tour of The Beast and said our goodbyes to the Klime faithful – we are off to CALI.
