Just Say No

Posted by katie on 4/21/2008 on katie's blog

So, the big exciting news of the week is that I've decided to call it quits on Learning to Fly until fall. Temps are heating up here in Moablandia, but that's not really a good excuse. Actually, I think the crack has gotten bigger. No, really. Everytime I go to clip I can feel my ringlocks sliding out. It's terrifying, and really, the only possible explanation is that the crack has grown.
Plus, last night I was chatting with French-Canadian climber Peewee, and apparently he injured a lateral ligament in his finger about a year ago and it's still bothering him when he climbs finger cracks. His injury sounded really similar to the way my finger has been feeling -- only worse -- so I decided the wise thing to do would be to "just say no."

And no it is. But what now? Maybe sport climbing. Hmmmm. I'll have to ponder this.

You've got the whole long summer ahead to find something worthwhile to do. How about a road trip back to old KY, and you could even go north( ?) to Wisconsin and try some killer edges on Devils Lake quartzite for some fun in May before it gets to humid up there. Road trip! Road trip!!

I did some routes up Clear Creek Canyon at Creekside and it was sweet. I did a route called Rhett Wrench and I pulled this pick off MP to show the tyrolian traverse to get to the pod, I forgot my camera but I'm going back next week to do a sweet looking trad route. You should road trip to your old stomping grounds.
