We went up and did Mt. Rose this week and it was the probably the first time anyone had been there for a year since the road had been closed. We are going up to do an unnamed peak above Wagonwheel on Sunday. Both of those, and access to Lightning peak, Copper Peak and the whole Sawtooth ridge has been closed off for some time, but is now open (entirely to the Staircase Ranger station by Sunday). Mt, Rose, by the way, has a much different character to it since the forest fire. At the summit block you can actually get a pretty good view of the lake below. There is some blow down on the trail, but only at the very top, most of the trail is quite good actually.
