SF

I know I haven't posted in a while. Things can get a little out of whack when you're on the road and the little things sometimes fall by the wayside. I've been in San Fransisco for about a week now, visiting my good friend Amy and riding the public transportation from Berkeley to downtown SF. Let me tell you, for a small-town girl, it's pretty exciting. I've seen some pretty crazy stuff. I found myself unable to walk in a straight line because I would be constantly gawking at people and things. I mean, SF is kindof a world of its own.
Cody got to ride the BART (the train system) and was ABSOLUTELY terrified, but handled it well. We rode the F car down Market Street and we walked through the great shopping disrict on Haight Street. Played some pool in a gay bar, walked through Chinatown, ate Dim Sum, saw Golden Gate Park and all the homeless hippies lounging about in the grass, collected fresh oysters (but couldn't bring myself to eat any), and even went climbing.
Yes. It's true. Amongst all that there was a day of climbing. We went up north to a small bouldering area set amongst a huge field of blowing grass and overlooking the ocean. Sounds idyllic, right? Well, it was. Cody was beyond psyched to be outside in the grass instead of on pavement, and we were excited to touch rock and move about a bit. The bouldering wasn't extensive, but good quality rock. I don't know what kind, but it was a black, polished rock formation, just kinda plopped down in the middle of this field.
Anyway, I'm off to the climbing gym for one last workout before I leave SF so I gotta skeedaddle.

SF is a nice place; cable car down to the wharf for fresh fish, etc. Never climbed anywhere near there, but spent New Years in 'the Haight back in '69. Yes, I do have the brain cells left to remember most of it.
