Climbing gets people in crazy places.
...and sometimes we hear back from them...
after their escapade through piranha-infested shallows,
between their runs to the local crags,
or just before a late night of buildering,
shenanigans and lighter tricks.
Post stories or journal entries of your travels
be they glorious sunrises of color,
that sketchy guy with a shoelace for an anchor,
or your own wondrous discovery about titanium sporks.
So...cough it up for the rest of us to read!

Ashtar Command Tower-Zion National Park, Utah. |
![]() Rob-bee-killer and I did the Ashtar Command Tower yesterday afternoon. It's a two pitch 5.9. The first pitch is a crack and the second pitch is a bolted face. Rob-bee is at the anchor of another route that starts to the right of the route we're on. |

The Force Boyle-Mount Johnson, Zion National Park. |
![]() Last weekend I made the hour and a half hike up to Mount Johnson with Rob-beekiller and Billy-O to help put up some more pitches on the new route, "Force Boyle". This is me leading up the first pitch that Robbie and Bill put up two weeks ago. My on-sight attempt was shut down when I hit the 5.ll- crux of slopers. Oh well, I'll get it next time. |

Coke Explosion-III 5.10 |
![]() This is one of the newer free routes in Zion National Park that I've done twice now. It's just off the Angles landing trail and has a pretty moderate approach. This climb throws a little of everything at you from fingers to chimney and a little face climbing too. All the belays are fixed anchors and you get off the route with two rappels. Be careful pulling the ropes on the first rappel though because the rope can fall into the crack just above the anchor and get stuck. |
