Favorite Thing about Climbing
What do I love about climbing? The fact that I can go places that the average soccer mom would only see in a picture. I love exposure. I love to look down and say, "Holy shit, I did THAT!" I love the climbing community and the friends I have made. They are so inclusive and diverse. I love the connection I have with my belayer, instantly intimate because my life depends on him/her to give me 100%, and he/she will expect the same from me. I love it when someone else thinks I can do something that I dont think I can do, and they are right! Climbing brings out the best in people, that's what I love about it the most.
Favorite Destination
So far my favorite trip has been Red Rocks in March of '07
Favorite Climbing Memory
On Solar Slab, I think about 8 pitches up if you count Solar Slab Gully, a helicopter came into the canyon and was flitting around like a bee, sometimes above us, sometimes below us. It got pretty close to the rock, at least it seemed to from our perspective, and I'm pretty sure there are some tourists out there with some awesome pix of us that I would LOVE to have! That was an awesome day. Thursday before Red Rocks Rendezvous and we were the ONLY ONES, not only on solar slab but, in the whole canyon! At least as far as we could tell. It was a 14 hour day, car to car, and every bit of it was perfect. Perfect weather, great climbing partner and a classic route all to ourselves!
