I think the book title expresses it best. "Freedom of the Hills" When I'm climbing I don't think about much of anything else. I don't hear phones, TV, iPods, cars or city noises. My companions have similar feelings. We climb frequently in the Olympic Mountains and Olympic National Park. We do mostly alpine climbing, but love rock too when we encounter it. Being retired, I get out more than once a week.

Why do climbers rope up? So the chickens can't go home.
